Bishan Vegetarian

Daily available Lor Mee with Gluten Mock meat but  they are friendly and readily accept change of mock meat to vegetables they serve for economy rice or meehoon,  making it to more healthy option. :-)

Bishan Vegetarian

Another satisfactory meal from Bishan Vegetarian.
Vegetarian Fish Soup Kway Tiao without milk~clear soup.
Love their hugh pieces of compressed beancurd skin texture of mock fishes used with generous portion of vegetables and Kway Tiao. Worth the value at $4.
And the hot clear soup is nice on a rainy day.

Bishan Vegetarian

Back to classes, more opportunities to visit Bishan and another discovery that the food centre above Bishan Bus Interchange had renovated and fortunately Bishan Vegetarian is still there, moved to 2nd stall away from the Drink Stall on the right corner.
Looking for something soupy, their Bittergourd Bean curb soup caught my eyes. A good portion of bitter gourd slices (fresh and not that bitter :-) ), red carrot slices, silky water bean curb, tomato cubes, straw-mushrooms and seaweed. Soup was plain but nice. :-)

Bishan Vegetarian

Visited Bishan Vegetarian again & found their Ala Carte dishes reduced back to their 3 main stars: the Lor mee, Curry noodles and Dry noodles.
One attraction back to the stall is the auntie is willing to let me exchange the accompanying gluten mock meat with their economical rice dishes with a smile and at no extra cost.
So, I managed to enjoy a bowl of unique Dry noodles of my style. With the changes in the ingredients, its rating as a delicious bowl of noodles is certainly much enhanced. :-)

Bishan Vegetarian

Was a hot day that I didn't feel like having a heavy meal, decided to have a quick snack at Bishan Vegetarian instead.

Realised that they had increased their menu to include Vegetarian Hor Fun, Bitter Gourd Fish soup, etc. but still decided to have something light, their "Shui Kway" became my choice.

It is difficult to find this traditional snack to be pure vegetarian as the toppings of carrot pickles is usually stir-fried with pork lard/onion oil if purchased from non vegetarian vendors. Hence, I had not had this dish for a long time. Well, the toppings turned out to be oily which I can happily taste without a sense of guilt/hate the aftertaste of onion and the pickles quite crunchy with the white rice cake flavour enhanced with dipping of their chilli sauce. An nice light meal that I will return again for.

Bishan Vegetarian

Revisited Bishan Central and glad to find Bishan Vegetarian still operational.
Ordered their Lor Mee which the pot of Lor gravy looked kind of unappetising. However, surprisingly it was the famous Tiong Bahru thick gluey type which with appropriate vinegar tasted quite authentic. Forgoing the mock char siew & duck pieces, I was given a big mock fishball which was quite chewy and another time their vege dishes.
Generally, quite enjoyable as dish came hot & steamy.:-)

Bishan Vegetarian

Yes, the latest Vegetarian stall that just opened in Bishan and its name is Bishan Vegetarian. Located just above the food centre above the Bus Interchange, Up from the colorful stairs near the traffic light, you can see it just beside a fishball noodles stall. It sells economical rice dishes as well as Lor Mee & Curry Noodles and some snacks. I tried their Curry Noodles ($3) which the diluted gavy is more of the Malay Lontong version, came with generous portion of mock char siew & duck pieces & fried goose pieces and the cabbage & long beans made it really "Lontong". :-)
