莲芯茶坊, Lotus Heart Tea House

Another surprise when I made a recent visit to the Tea House. They have again changed their menu. Now it is more towards restaurant concept. I was told they will change their menu every 3 months and this current menu started 1 July.
Besides their Brown Rice Bento set, their menu includes Japanese cold soba & dishes served in Hot stone pots.

We tried their Japanese Green Tea Cold soba (日式绿茶酸辣冷面). Not quite sure whether the soba or the sauce is to be of green tea taste, nevertheless, the soba is nice & smooth but the sauce is more to the taste of black vinegar which we felt the overall taste could be further enhanced if Wasabi could be added to it.
I would strongly recommend their Noodles with Fish and Squid (素鱼苏东面) served in Hot stone pot. (Picture on right but because served in dark colored pot & lighting is insufficient so photo not well-taken :P)
I like the noodles, tasted abit like yellow noodles but not exactly... I wonder what it is. The mock fish is Soya-made mock fish which is average, but I like the mock squid balls which tasted like the actual version. What made the dish is its broth, very tasty, abit sweet but nice and I could not stop myself from wanting to finish it.
Another recommendation is the appetiser, Japanese cucumber with wasabi sauce. They marinated the cucumber with white vinegar and tasted wonderful when dipped with wasabi sauce.:-)

In addition, they had also started buffet catering services (Deluxe, Supreme & High Tea reception menu) daily from 10am to 5.30pm. You may like to call @ 6854 7689 for more info on the menu.

Personally, I feel that more effort could be made to publicise on their Tea-house & catering services. It is important to make public aware of its presence and its attractive menu.
I just had a check on their web on their Tea House. As at posting time, they are still showing an old menu when they had just started the Tea house...

The tea house's operating hours are daily from 9am to 7pm with last order at 6.30pm.
It is located at level 2 of Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum which is located at Chinatown: 288 South Bridge Rd, off Sago street or opposite the famous Maxwell food centre, nearest MRT: Outram/Chinatown MRT.

Eight Immortals (Great World City Food Junction)

Dumplings, definitely a delicacy that I miss.
I was told that theirs are "hand-made" but was always informed about unavailablity during past visits. Finally, I managed to try them this round.:-)

The ingredients are similar to what can be found in those instant products (no meat texture taste unlike Nature Vegn's) but the skin is slightly thinner and the dumplings are more delicate in comparison. A pity that they did not provide those fine ginger slices with vinegar sauce, otherwise, the taste will be further enhanced.:-)

It is located at Food Junction at Great World City Basement 1, corner stall besides Mr Prata.

Orchard Deli

In a recent visit to Orchard Tower, my friend introduced me to this coffee shop that she frequents for lunch. I am certainly glad to know about another vegetarian eatery at this stretch of Orchard Road.
They serve daily specials as well as stir-fry dishes and mixed rice dishes (their vegetarian includes eggs, so do specify that you do not want eggs if you are on pure vegetarian diet).

Orchard Deli is located at #04-02 of Orchard Tower, near the lift lobby.

Chinn Seng Restaurant

Another new try at a Vegetarian coffee shop besides Kian Joo Vegetarian Food Supply Centre which I introduced the Belachan chilli.
Sometimes, when I have no craving for any food, I will just simply order this dish - Mixed Vegetables Soup Mee Hoon/Noodles. I was expecting just plain soup but it turned up a surprise that the soup has a mild herbal taste that enhances one's appetite. With a generous portion of veges & black fungus as seen in picture, it is quite a nice try.

It is located just a few shops away from Kwan Inn Vegetarian Food 观音斋 at Blk 134 Geylang East Ave1, 2nd bus stop from Aljunied Mrt.

Rice House 粥大王

Another visit to Rice House. Their side-dish: Lobster Rolls (龙虾卷) has become my favourite and their Mock Pork Ribs Soup Noodles (肉骨茶面) though may not be on their signature dish list, is quite nice with its unique herbal taste that is different from those cooked with instant product available on market.

They are located at Blk 129 Geylang East ave 1, beside Foo Hai Chan Monastery & Opposite Sims Ville Condo. May alight at 2nd bus stop from Aljunied MRT & walk further up & turn left to Monastery direction. They are closed on Monday. Tel: 6747 3739

Cong Cong Vegetarian stall at Tiong Bahru Market

Sad to know that this stall had also increased its price to $2.50 but they managed to provide a good portion that is filling. To be competitive, they already had dishes ready for you to choose early on a Sat morning about 9am. It is a good alternative for those who do not like traditional standard mee hoon with mock barbacue pork & meat. See the nutritional breakfast that I had : Pumpkin, bean curb and green vege.:-)

Located at 2nd level food centre, Far left Corner from direction of escalator of Tiong Bahru Market (30 Seng Poh Road), about 2 bus-stop away from Tiong Bahru MRT. Bus: 5, 16, 33, 63, 195, 851

慈缘轩 (Ci Yan Xuan) Chinatown

Cold noodles! Another speciality of Ci Yan Xuan.
Though I am not hungry, I decided to pack back for supper. :P

No regrets, the cool & refreshing noodles (White Jade noodles) with its unique gravy is a delicacy on its own even without the shreds of salad vege & fried wonton skin. A great dish on a warm night. :-) Very satisfying!:-)
