Loving Heart Cafe

The weather was so hot that this round appetite was greatly lost and though the wall menu at Loving Heart Cafe was enticing, we decided to go for simpler food and the porridge/congee caught our eyes.

We each ordered their seafood and traditional?  porridge/congee? Plain porridge/congee with a slight taste and the fried mock pieces and ginger slices and pasley added flavour to it. Ending with the crispy fried fritters, it is a good choice on a hot day. :-)

Next time, I may try their Indian dishes...

一心素食 Yi Xin Vegetarian, Chinatown

Back to Yi Xin for their noodles and wanting something appetising that night, decided to try their Spicy noodles again. The surprise is ... instead of using normal yellow noodles, the cook actually used the pasta noodles found in their new dish of spaghetti. It clicks with the spicy soup and made a wonderful combination that I will return for more.:-)

Vegetarian Rojak and Popiah stall at Fu Lu Shou Complex

Visited the Bugis area & Glad to find out another vegetarian Rojak/Popiah stall had opened up at the old address of Uncle Rojak's stall at B1 of Fu Lu Shou Complex.

Long Long time didn't tried the popiah vegetarian version so was glad and ordered. :-)

Nice with crunchy vegetables and the minced fried pieces that added the crunchiness, can try...

Happy Boy Soya Bean

The new version of bean curd. Tastes smooth like almond jelly or pudding texture with different flavours available such as green tea, strawberry, blue-berries, etc.
It is supposed to be healthier and suitable for vegetarians as it does not contain gypsum/gelatin/preservatives and is supposedly rich in soya bean flavour.
Can see several places selling similar products with different brand names, another bubble-tea alike trend?

Chin Swee Vegetarian Restaurant at Genting Highlands

It had been many years since I last visited the Chin Swee Caves Temple at mid of Genting Highlands, and its cave restaurant and nice veggie food still left a deep fond imprint in my memories.
It is great to know that there are now free shuttle bus services to the Chin Swee Temple from First World Hotel at hourly interval from 9am to 9pm except 1pm. It just takes 15min to travel from the hotel.
Just as I was wondering if the restaurant would still be there, we alighted just in front of the relocated restaurant which is just beside the reception of the temple hotel. And how modern the whole temple compound had developed into.
One is welcomed by the standing Amitabha Buddha at the door of the restaurant and the elegant atmosphere with the playing of the Great Compassion Mantra at the background makes one feel really relaxed.
Since it is early in the morning that we arrived, we were told only the simple stir-fry noodles/meehoon were available though later we saw more patrons coming in and ordered the more sophiscated dishes.
We ordered most of the stir-fry noodles/mee-hoon & kway teow dishes and shared.

Shanghai Style Braised Noodles (more like KL noodles though);
Sze Chuan Style Dong Fen (more like Assam taste);
Singapore Style Fried Mee Hoon (This is really good with wok-hei feel, very fragnant);
Assorted Kway Teow Soup (Nice, not as bland as expected)
Hong Kong Style Fried Mee (Nice too) ;
'Char Siew' Noodles (the barbacue pork was well done with crispy roasted red skin that won compliment from all) and;
Stir Fry Dry Hor Fun (sinfully oily but very nice with wok-hei feel that also won compliment from all :-) )
Although some of the dishes did not come out as per their name on menu, they are flavourful and nice in their own way and we all agreed it is an enjoyable vegetarian meal. (especially when it is praised by the non vegetarian company that I was with, phew :-))

The prices of above ranges from RM9.80 to RM10.80 which even after adding 6% tax is still considered reasonable,(almost same price range as the foodcourt at First World Plaza), considering the good environment we enjoyed the meal in.

After a full meal, one can still take a relaxing stroll around the temple compound before catching the next shuttle bus service back to the hotel.:-)

The free shuttle bus service that departs from the shuttle bus service area near the level 1 of First World Hotel's Starbucks (near the luggage deposit area) from 9am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm.
It just takes 15min to reach and as long as one does not miss the last bus back at 9.15pm from the temple, it is a good alternative consideration for lunch/dinner. :-)

Vegie House at Genting Highlands

 I did a little research before I went to Genting and luckily the info is still not out-dated. The vegetarian stall: Vegie House, at the First World Plaza level 2B Kopitiam Food Court is still available. And it is quite popular, always having some patrons when I visited it during lunch and dinner.

It has a variety of stir-fry dishes such as Hor-Fun, Tom-Yam, rice sets as well as western food.

I tried their Fish & Chips, Char Siew noodles, and also ordered their Sweet & Sour Fried Abalone mushroom (RM15.90~S$6.40) which they gave a nice Chinese name: "World Famous Pieces".
Their Fish & Chip pieces were instant mock fish fillet pieces coated with bread-crumbs with generous portion of fries and nice coleslaw.:-}

Their Char Siew noodles, Q, and their World Famous Pieces were indeed nice & crispy with appetising sauce that T was all-praise of.

The prices are in range of RM8 and above and pls note that by default their stir-fry dishes like Hor-Fun will be served with eggs so when you order, pls specify to them your no-egg requirements and remind them again if there is a crowd...

Vegetarian at JB Stop-over

Was at the tour bus stop-over at Yong Peng, Johor, on way to Genting. Certainly was  glad to find the word: "Order Vegetarian option here" at the counter beside the cashier. It was actually a counter set up by the restaurant: Ming Ang Restaurant Sdn. Bhd. at the food centre.

They have simple stir-fry dishes such as Hor-fun, noodles etc as well as vegetarian set dinner menu at around RM200 which I had a quick glance and I would consider it reasonable priced in comparison to Spore restaurants.
Nevertheless, as we only had half an hour to catch our meal, I ordered their Stir-fry vermicelli. One could choose to eat at their air-conditioned restaurant or at the food centre. The service was fast and reasonably tasty at RM7.40 (inclusive of 6% Govt Tax) which is about S$3.
