Vegan Paradise

Returned for their Mushroom Set Rice which I saw looked nice during last visit and decided to try now. Thumbs Up!
Nice gravy sauce that goes well with the mushrooms that I finished the big portion of rice easily.: -p

Vegan Paradise is located at corner coffee-shop (near main road) near traffic light, opposite Aljunied MRT.  Hard to miss it...

Vegan Paradise

Had a craving for nice Belacan chilli, Vegan Paradise came into my mind when we visited Aljunied MRT area for a talk. And all who tried agreed the chilli is really shiok!!!

The Xiang Chun Fried Rice, nice flavorful!

Stir-fry Dry Mee Sua, nice as well.:-)
Stir-fry Wet Mee Sua , like Hor Fun style. Satisfactory too!
Fried Cereal Tofu! Always loved fried cereal flakes!

Vegan Paradise is located at corner coffee-shop (near main road) near traffic light, opposite Aljunied MRT.  Hard to miss it...

Ci Hang Western & Chinese Vegetarian Fast Food

One of my favourite Vegetarian Western Food is the Vegetarian Chicken Cutlet at CiHang. But it is a big portion that I can only order when extremely hungry or with friends to share. Price remains at $9 after many years but the portion of mash potato has been reduced....Other than that, the vegetarian chicken cutlets remained as well-fried and they were being readily cut into small pieces to aid eating. :-)

Cihang is located at 72 Lorong 25-A Geylang, at stretch of shophouses besides Aljunied MRT. Tel: 6747 1229. Operates from 10am-9.30pm with last order at 9pm. Closed on Fridays.

Rice House 粥大王

Looking for soupy dishes around Aljunied area made me recall the Rice House that I had not visited for ages.
Arriving there, a new impressive Hugh menu appeared that spoiled us with choices. Finally decided on their Energy Mushroom Soup Noodles.
Well, the mushrooms are few (dry mushrooms soaked and don't look energised :-p) but compensated  by many other ingredients. I believe the energy refers to the soup of herbal taste. It is of reasonable mild herbal taste, I like it! Finished the bowl of soup which went well with sliced chilli as advised by S. :-)
And their portion also improved from last visit. Will likely return to try their other appetizing looking curry and popular dishes.
Oh, the same owners opened a Vegetarian Mama Shop just beside Rice House.
Good variety of vegetarian supplies neatly arranged. Cool!

The Rice House is located at Blk 129 Geylang East ave 1, beside Foo Hai Chan Monastery & Opposite Sims Ville Condo. May alight at 2nd bus stop from Aljunied MRT & walk further up & turn left to Monastery direction.
Tel: 6747 3739

Eastern Vegetarian Food

Was at Novena area during lunch hours and recalling there is a cafeteria open to public at Level 2 of Revenue House, I tried my luck and was glad I made the right try. There is a vegetarian stall in it. :-)
It sells economical rice dishes and a few common stir-fry dishes like Hor Fun and Hokkien Mee,  etc.
Prefering some hot dishes, I ordered the Hor Fun.
Hmm, gravy is starchy type and ingredients reasonably nice though there needs more improvements in its Stir fry skills for the white noodles. :-p.
Still glad though, to have additional vegetarian choice in this area. :-)

八仙素食 (Koufu - Toa Payoh central)

Visited Toa Payoh central and could not resist going back to ordering this Vegetarian Ngian Toufu. Today's soup has a heavier herbal taste, making it even more palatable. :-))

Vegetarian Indian Cuisine

A new Vegetarian Indian Cuisine stall opened at Tiong Bahru market food centre, making it the 3rd Vegetarian  stall at the food centre. From the name,  I was expecting prata but it was not in sight on day of visit or its menu signboard.
I saw Nasi Briyani, Rojak Noodles, Mutton Soup, Mee Goreng, Fried Mee Hoon and Fried Rice on display. They have curry puff too.
It is a welcome change from the traditional vegetarian standard mee hoon stall so I decided to try their Rojak Mee which resembles mee rebus in the gravy with yellow noodles, accompanied by fried bean curd slices and fried vegetable fritters.
Taste wise so so but I do like their Nasi Briyani which I packed home for lunch.
The yellow flavoured rice was soft and  tasty with nice curry mutton and crispy papadum.
Their curry puff skin is a bit thick in my opinion but the ingredients of potatoes is quite nice.
I would likely return to try their mutton soup which the owner recommended saying it is very nice and added it is vegetarian.: -)
The stall is managed by a Chinese couple hence their cooking style of Indian food is more towards Chinese taste rather than authentic Indian taste.

It is located at level 2 of Tiong Bahru market level 2 food centre, at straight far rear end corner from the escalator. Just 2 stalls away from the popular long queue vegetarian white mee hoon stall, Ruyi Vegetarian.

Vegan Paradise

New stall opened at corner coffee-shop (near main road) opposite Aljunied MRT.
They have a good variety of Stir-fry dishes, looks  good to go with friends to try.
Wanted to try something dry and spicy on day of visit,  and Mee Goreng is natural choice. Overall taste  is satisfactory.
Chilli lovers, their Belacan chilli is real shiok!!!

FoYin Vegetarian Cuisine

Fried Brown Rice at Foyin Vegetarian Cuisine stall at Aperia building,  level 2 foodcourt.
Tasty & QQ rice , love brown rice fried verus Just cooked. :-) Am glad fried brown rice is getting popular in Singapore too,  though the long grain type is used versus the short grain type in Taiwan, it also tasted good!

Xiu Yuan Vegetarian Eating House

Now moved to 2nd floor of Fortune Centre, on right of escalator, Xiu Yuan seems to be doing fine compared to the previous tenants of bakery. It has a variety of dishes that caters to the mass. We tried their Purple Yam (Huai Shan) Soup Noodles and Xiao Wan Mian (Dry Mee Pok with still boiling steamboat bowl of soup found commonly in non vegetarian fish ball noodles stall). They blended the Purple Yam into the soup , making it into a creamy soup like creamy mushroom soup which I do enjoy.
The Dry Mee Pok was well-made and the soup came with good portion of vegetables.
Likely will return to try more dishes. :-)

3 Dishes , Rice, Vegetarian Food

Having heard much about this economical rice stall at the Waterloo Street hawker centre, I finally pull myself away from the air-conditioning Fortune centre and explore into the hawker centre just nearby. Well, it is not too difficult to find the stall with bright red label and located at inner corner unit of the 2nd stretch of stalls. A good variety of vegetables and fried stuff and if Choosing 3 dishes with rice, it just costs $2.50 instead of $2.80 with mee-hoon as stated on label.
Yes, a good cheaper alternative if one wants a reasonable cheap and fast meal versus stalls at Fortune centre ranging generally from $4. :-)

八仙素食 (Koufu - Toa Payoh central)

I like their soup base with mild herbal taste.
And reasonable priced which I originally thought would cost above $4.
I watched a few patrons paid for their economical rice while waiting which I believe will cost at least a dollar or two more at other similar vegetarian stalls in food courts. Do Keep it down or stable! :-))

Ding Shan Vegetarian

This is considered a relatively new stall compared to the Ruyi Vegetarian stall that existed for decades at Tiong Bahru market food centre. It also sells white mee hoon with standard mix of ingredients but I always prefer to just have their cabbage and bean curd skin pieces. They have curry dishes and more choices of variety of fried items compared to Ruyi. A good alternative when one wants vegetarian food and put off by the long queue at Ruyi. But over time, I would say they had improved and may be getting their own base of patrons already. :-)

Mei Jing Vegetarian Food

Not a rice lover but wanted a change and pleased with their Olive Fried Rice!

Mei Jing Vegetarian stall #01-76, is located at the Beo Crescent market's food centre just in-front of Blk 40 Havelock Road, 2 streets away from Tiong Bahru Plaza. It opens early around 7am to 3pm daily and rests on Sunday.

素满园 (Foodmaster at One-North)

Exploring mall above One-North MRT,  I am certainly glad to find a vegetarian stall at its level 2 new food-court! Seeing the familiar Sour & Spicy Noodles on its menu,  I guessed it is likely 素满园 & indeed guessed right when I finally found its small label on top.
Decided to try its Hor Fun as it is easier to pack back. Good portion of ingredients and I like one of the new mock meat slices tasted.:-)

Oh just noticed there is another vegetarian stall at another foodcourt at B1. :-))

Ji Xiang Ru Yi Vegetarian

I noticed that those vegetarian stalls with name : "Ru Yi" selling white mee hoon somehow attracts queues.: -)
This stall at 2nd stretch of the Redhill market food centre is another such popular stall.
Nice fried mee hoon! Their ingredients included fresh cabbage and my favourite compressed bean curd skin products!
No wonder long queue...;-)

Kwan Inn Vegetarian Food 观音斋

Soup Spinach noodles! Besides the Dry version, I like their clear soup version which is naturally saltish with use of the preserved Sichuan Vege slices. And the noodles still Q.
They have the normal Slim noodles which tasted as good with same soup base and ingredients. They can be ordered from the same Laksa stall that sells Daily Special too.

It is located at corner coffee shop at Blk134 Geylang East Ave1, 2nd bus stop from Aljunied Mrt. Opposite Tan Swie Hian Museum.

Gokul (Fortune Centre)

I used to love the traditional Teochew Fried Kway Teow and was surprised to find this long missed flavour at an Indian Vegetarian Shop! Yes, at Gokul (Fortune centre)
The Sweet sauce and yet a pitch of salty flavour really resembles my favourite Char Kway Teow but it is kind of sinful oily feel once I finished the whole bowl...
Well, Once in a while is okay I guess... and do more exercise later...:P

P wanted Non spicy plain soup Kway Teow and they are able to create one dish though not on menu! And she was really satisfied with the generous portion of soup and ingredients. :-)

Xuan Miao Vegan

Vegetarian Bak Kut Teh Soup Ban Mian!
New Special of Xuan Miao and noticed that they have now a new ingredient of mock slim meat alike look (the 3 rectangular pieces on top of the noodles) with texture of compressed beancurd skin of the vegetarian chicken/duck found in traditional stalls. Yummy!
At $6, it also comes with mock mutton, mock ikan bilis, good portion of vegetables and the squarish type of mock fish beancurd (instant product) which I dislike as I felt there is a lot of MSG taste in it. Oh they also have the mock fried fish maw that went well with the Bak Kut Teh soup verus with their original version of plain soup.
Well, Soup wise was okay (not fantastic type :P) with some Ba Jiao flavour and I requested for Ban Mian ( mee pok type of noodles; flat noodles ) instead of slim noodles in this order and was pleased that they had changed their original thick Ban Mian to better texture of slimmer and thinner version, making the texture smoother compared to the past version.
Overall, worth trying....
Oh my friend complained that the original version now comes with lesser ingredients. Gone is the Dumpling...
And how can their tasty chilli sauce, a star, be out of stock?:P

Xuan Miao is now located at Basement Foodcourt ~ Kopitiam of Paya Lebar Square, beside Green Line exit of Paya Lebar MRT.

Tian Yuan Vegetarian

红糟面线 or Red Yeast Mee Sua was never my favourite, but was yearning to try something different that fine day and recalled friend recommended this dish so that's the order and Thumbs UP!!!

This Vegetarian Supply Shop - Tian Yuan is hidden at level 2 (#02-23) of Fortune centre, right on 2nd stretch of shops up from the escalator. It takes a bit of effort to look for it but luckily it has a bright sign.

Kwan Im Vegetarian Food (People's Park Centre)

Laksa with Mee Pok,  instead of usual yellow noodles,  unique Special recommended by the vendor !
Taste quite good as they use the better quality type of noodles so the mee pok  tasted Good with some absorption of Laksa gravy.
But that cost $3.50, $0.50 more than usual price of $3 because of different noodles used. One can also choose the Slim noodles,  so if it is worthwhile to pay extra,  depends on individual...

Jin You Yuan Vegetarian

S had been recommending the Dumplings from this Vegetarian stall at level one of Jalan Besar Food centre near the exit along the Main Road. Finally visited it and ordered it with Soup Noodles and came Dumplings Hand-made noodles. :-)
Was disappointed the Dumplings were actually instant ones instead of hand-made but they were well cooked. I would recommend their noodles! Nice noodles and the generous bowl of Nice Soup! Saw the neighbouring table patron ordered their Dry noodles which was also using hand-made noodles and came with a Hugh bowl of Soup too. A Rare for Dry Noodles so I would definitely return one fine day to try...

It opens only on Weekdays from 8.30am-3.30pm. However, for noodle dishes, do visit only after 9.30am.

Tian Yuan Vegetarian

Simply love their innovation in Soup noodles!
Portabella Mushroom noodles!
Cooking handmade noodles in western style mushroom soup (blended mushroom!)  and with ingredients of slices of lotus roots and mushroom, long beans, crispy sprinkles,  etc...
Love it!
Oh, they also have Green curry noodles on their menu...next round... :-)

This Vegetarian Supply Shop - Tian Yuan is hidden at level 2 (#02-23) of Fortune centre, right on 2nd stretch of shops up from the escalator. It takes a bit of effort to look for it but luckily it has a bright sign.

Friendly Vegetarian Food

Was at this old estate and discovered a banner that showed the opening of New vegetarian stall: Shan Yuan Friendly Vegetarian Food,  at Blk 112 Bt Merah Food Centre, #01-13. Since it was near lunch time, decided to give it a try. Surprised to find the familiar faces of ex-vendor at the corner Lor 25 Geylang coffeeshop now relocated here at center stretch of the BM Food Centre.
Seeing their menu, they have home-made pizza at reasonable price of $5 but that may take some time to bake so Wanton Mee at $3 was ordered instead.
Well, the noodles were quite Q, with nice soya-based mock Char Siew.
Pity the Wanton replaced with instant product Dumplings and weird combination of seaweed soup. Nevertheless, a free bowl of soup is appreciated.:-)

Hee, interesting to find out they have Facebook under : Friendly Vegetarian Food 善缘素食...

Henry Vegetarian

Sadly, ceased operations...

Returned to try Henry Vegetarian after seeing their Fb post of Chicken Noodle but it turned out to be a Daily special instead of Weekly Special which I missed. Instead, Claypot Braised Noodles was on its Daily Special Menu. Curious what it is, I ordered, and it turned out to another delicious dish I would recommend. Flavourful with Green Pepper & Red chilli slices and Hugh Mushroom as main ingredients, I love the Gravy that went well with the Wanton noodles type of slim noodles.  Thumbs Up for those who like "heavy" flavour food.
