Yuan Xiang Idealite

Always enjoyed salad at Yuan Xiang Idealite (at Bugis village besides Mcdonald ) as their sauce is excellent.

Their signature burger sauce is great too! 😊
Was recommended this healthy vege soup ramen which we added another mini ramen.
Those who love healthy food will like this dish.
Thumbs up up 👍👍for the meal! 😀

A9S Heliren 和利仁

Another new Healthy Vegetarian choice at Raffles Place!
A friend introduced this vegetarian salad fruit juice bar, A9S, in The Arcade, Raffles place which opened barely a month ago. With the vision and mission of promoting vegetarian diet to the working people there, their price is very reasonable, considering the high cost of fresh ingredients and high rental in the CBD area.

They have S$5.90 set salad with 5 standard toppings. Each set caters for specific intent, e.g., Fiber Salad for a smoother stomach to pass motion, Detox Salad for 'over-eating of unhealthy stuff', Zoom Salad for energising oneself with more protein and calcium intake, Fruity-Nutty Salad is lighter for 'dessert' and 'social' meals.
Alternatively, one may have own choice of 6 toppings out of the 36 selections at $7.90.
The friendly staff will be there to advise their various home-made dressings  (was told there is choice of sweet & sour and even of spicy taste!) to match with the chosen salad.

For thick soup lovers, I would strongly recommend trying their home made Soup of the day! Currently they only serve mushroom or broccoli soup for a start and was told they were popular and sold out fast daily.
It was Mushroom soup for day of visit and I was pleasantly surprised with the thick broth of the mushroom soup especially when I was told it was cream-free. At $3.50 or $3 with order of salad, it is certainly worth the price.
With the big bowl of salad and soup, it is certainly a healthy nutritious filling meal.

A good choice for the stomach to get started for the week, especially after partying over the weekend or when one feels that a healthy meal is to be consumed.

Out of curiosity as the name of the shop does not sound like one for a salad bar business, I managed to understand from the boss its origin.
We were impressed with his interesting explanation!
By breaking up the third Chinese character "Ren" (仁), it signifies 2 persons which represents the business is the combined effort of him & his wife mutually supporting each other.
By breaking up the 2nd character "Li" (利 ), it signifies a platform (刂 ) for serving plant food (禾).
By breaking up the 1st character "He" (和), it signifies eating plant food.
So in combination it is a husband & wife business providing a platform for serving plant based food for all to taste.
And 'A9S' simply stands for "Always Nice'...

A9S is located at #01-04 near rear of The Arcade, right turn after florist.
Opens from 8am-5pm Monday to Friday.

Vegsenz

Returning to Vegsenz, this time round, I would recommend their Mango Salad, which with good mixture of fresh vege such as Alfalfa, bell peppers, with black & white sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds & the mango cubes with nice sauce won my friends' praises. (one of the better salads that as a non-salad lover, also thumbs up for it :-) )

Next to recommend is their Tahu Goreng with Pumpkin sauce. Just simple steamed/boiled beancurb with thick satay tasted pumpkin sauce, simple & nutritious.
Vegsenz is certainly another great place for gathering where the staff is always ready to refill your water, and will provide you with convenience of sharing the food with friends. My high service standard demanding friend was very satisfied with their service and we enjoyed a good time. :-)

Vegsenz is located at The Verge, 2 Serangoon Road , #01-24/25/26 S(218227), Tel: 63920369
It is actually quite easy to find as once you are out from exit B/C? of Little India MRT station (the exit to Tekka Centre), it is not difficult to find the big words of "The Verge" on a modern building. However, Vegsenz is not on this tower nearer to MRT, it is actually located on another tower behind the 1st building.
It is actually quite near to Bugis too, just diagonally behind Sim Lim Square.

慈缘轩 (Ci Yan Xuan) Chinatown

Longing for an air-conditioned place to have a less perspiring and quick dinner, Ci Yan Xuan is my top-choice around Chinatown area. Their menu for the day had Corn & Carrot Soup Noodles and I ordered that. A full bowl of white & red carrot, 2 slices of chopped corn, some mock meat and hidden below the ingredients were the similar type of flat "white jade" noodles used for their cold noodles.
It was very satisifying!:-)

Their delicious looking fruit & vegetable salad from next table attracted my attention & I went back with my friend for supper. :P
Generous plate with vegetables and fruits included cubes of mango, pears, Fuji-apple?
Very crunchy, and with the fresh vegetables was one of the more satisfying salad that I had tried so far. The dressing very similar taste as the Thousand Island if less diluted and stronger in taste would have added more points.

Address: 8 Smith Street (shophouse near end of Food Street)
Tel: 6225 9026 (If you want to confirm menu of the day:P)
Usual Opening Hours: 12pm-10pm

7 Sensations

Having heard much recommendations about 7 Sensations located at Little India and with the incentive of discounts from the Singapore Vegetarian Food Guide, I finally made a trip there with my rather anti-vegetarian sister and her vegetarian friend.
I had wanted to try the Clam Chowder Soup that ilovemyveg recommended but it was not on the menu (guess it is soup of the day) so we tried their Soup of the day: Carrot soup instead.

This is the 1st time I tried carrot soup in western style & a pleasant surprise. It was rich and creamy, and sweet like the pumpkin soup that I love. If they serve it with nice crunchy bread, it could be a fulfilling meal by itself.

The Mango and Avocado salad was also a great appetiser, wish they had more avocado and sauce to go with it.

Then, the Lasagne, very rich and cheesy, nice too but I wonder why they add the sweet sauce (I think the type usually used for the popiah) on top of the lasagne, somehow it spoils a bit of the taste.
It is a vegetarian fusion restaurant that serves Asian delights as well. We decided to try their Korean Hot Pot Brown Rice. It is a nice big pot with good portion of vegetables and mock meat shreds. The soft brown rice, reminded me of the tasty Taiwanese brown rice of the short grain type tried during my trip to Taiwan earlier in the year. The light sichuan vege soup that comes with it tasted refreshing.
The portion of the main courses at 7 Sensations are rather hugh and filling, so the recommendation is to order 2 main dishes for a company of 3 so that you may have some room for their tempting cakes as dessert. It is also a cosy place for gathering with friends and family. I am glad that my sis who usually has higher expectations on vegetarian meals commented that she will return for future meals with her non-vegetarian friends. :-)

The restaurant used to be located at 16 Madras street, Now at 9 Raffles Boulevard, #P3-07 (3rd Floor) Parco.

Tian En Vegn Food (Beside Aljunied MRT)

Moved to corner coffeeshop (same stretch/row) nearer to Main Road
but will be moving back on 16 Jul 2013 after renovation

Another new listing! Just at the corner of Aljunied MRT, there is this coffeeshop. I think the stall shd be less than 6mths old, always passby to CiHang without noticing (thot it as another mixed rice stall) until this rainy day when seeking shelter. Indeed it has great variety of dishes for the rice/mee hoon.

The dishes are innovative too. I was surprised to find a number of unique dishes. Usually, we have cereal vegn prawn but they actually cook it with vegn "luncheon meat". I had tried vegn ham but this is the 1st time I tasted vegn luncheon meat & in cereal prawn style. The cereal & curry leaves is well cooked and the luncheon meat I wld say taste very similar to the real one & as saltish. I had never fancy the real luncheon meat but for those who used to love it, you cld find back the similar taste. (Applaud for vegn food suppliers' innovation & effort;-) )
Another unique dish is its mixed salad. Unlike normal salad, the ingredients are actually combinations of pieces of fried popiah, potato samosa (puff), vegn fish cake/ball & I forgot what else:P It can also be ordered on its own as a side dish.
Very fattening & sinful but ok lah once in a while. :p (just a thought, next time if you have any unfinished food, you can also just add them in a mixing bowl & add salad cream/sauce to it & it's another innovative dish)
The meehoon was quite nice & they also have ala carte dishes like Hor Fun, Fish & Chips etc. I miss nice western food, shall try it next time.

Location: 1st coffee shop at corner of Lor 25 Geylang ( just beside Aljunied MRT)
