Yuan Wei Quan Vegetarian (YWQ)

Long queue during lunch hours. Being only vegetarian stall left of the food courts around HDB Hub with Koufu on 2nd level under renovation and the other vegetarian stall at Forks & Spoons closed down.
Vegetarian Fish soup was on its daily special menu at price of $3.80. Still tasted as nice but wished they could be more generous with the soup.
An enjoyable meal though ...

The food court is located at B1 of HDB Hub. You can either enter thru basement car park entrance or from entrance besides McDonald from Bus interchange. The stall is located at far right end if from entrance besides McDonald.

Yuan Wei Quan Vegetarian (YWQ)

Most of the time when I am at Toa Payoh Central, I will tend to visit the vegetarian stall at Gourmet Paradise. Like its variety and Daily menu :-)

Menu of day recently visited was Prawn noodles, something I had not tried before from the stall. It is defaulted Soup noodles with a beautiful variety mock products. Sweet soup with crunchy Kang Kong , beancurd and even mock fried onion slices and love their generous red chilli slices that added a pinch of spiciness to the soup.:-)

Bak Choy (minced meat) Mee Tai Mak or Mee Hoon is one of their later addition as special menu on Saturday. Nice portion of vinegar which is a must for nice Bak Choy noodles, with minced meat which tasted like otak with abit of spiciness (which I wonder if has egg ingredients inside as the stall does sell eggs as well ) , some mushroom slices and their ever crispy vegetarian fried "goose pieces".
On the menu of the day also, is vegetarian porridge which I noticed is actually congee style of porridge which looked good & finished fast just after lunch hours. (Greedy me with soft spot for congee had wanted to pack it home to try but was disappointed to find it fully sold. Next time perhaps...:P )

Had earlier mistaken that after Gourmet Paradise's recent renovation, the old stall was replaced as the menu seemed to have changed with big posters of their new menu of Black Pepper Vegetarian Chicken set and Vegetarian Sweet & Sour Pork Brown Rice set.
Their menu of the day stills retains but now at a higher price of $3 (2010) to $3.70 (2013) instead of before renovation of $2.50. Their Economical rice had also inceased to ave of $3.30.
Decided to try their new Vegetarian pork brown rice set (at $4.30 in 2010!) that comes with small bowl of soup, brown rice, cabbage & a small plate of sweet & sour vegetarian pork which tasted like well-fried flour coated button mushrooms and mock meat. Nice but will be more value for money if the portion is more. :P

Its menu of the day - vegetarian fish soup with beancurb skin rolls is always a favourite and delight to have when I visit Toa Payoh Central.:-) Hopefully, the price will remain at $2.50 for at least next 1 year...:-I

Another new menu for the day - Laksa...
Unlike other menu of the day, this new dish costs S$3 instead of S$2.50.
It comes with some mock fish cake slices, straw-mushrooms, tou-pok, bean sprouts and a thick gravy with strong coconut taste. Worth trying....

Long time since I last visited the stall and a surprise on new addition to their Menu of the day: Mee Siam. :-)

No lime slices provided but the gravy was already spicy & sour enough. It was accompanied with cubes of fried beancurd, taupok and mock goose pieces and they were all so crispy!!! Strongly recommended to try!!!

Another menu of the day: Lor Mee at $2.30. Quite a big portion, the gravy is average but the selling point is its crispy flour pieces & 斋鹅 mock gooses.

Sob:-(, the stall has increased its other menu of the day from $2.20 to $2.30.
Well, what to do? inflation lor :-(

(Sliced Fish meehoon)

Another popular soup mee hoon I like. Nice to have when you need something "soupy" to warm your stomach.
Its fish is well fried & thinly sliced to taste it in 1 mouthful. It is still crispy as added after soup is prepared except for portion dipped in soup. Its soup base is with milk so if you add chilli to it, it becomes semi-laksa. :-)

Where can you find vegetarian food below $2.50?
You can try this vegetarian stall at a corner of HDB Hub foodcourt.
Besides serving Mixed Rice dishes, it will usually include another dish as menu of the day: Kway Chap, Sliced Fish Meehoon or Lor Mee. Generally this other menu of the day costs $2.20.
(Kway Chap)
It comes with a generous portion of Tou Pok & mock duck. Taste is ok lah but I like its Sliced Fish Meehoon, with milky soup style better. Will introduce it next round when I visit the stall again.
ps. pls take note that this stall serves eggs too under the mixed rice dishes
