Dining Hall of Buddha Tooth Relics Temple

Visited Buddha Tooth Relics Temple recently and saw near its entrance that its Dining Hall at Basement One now sells Vegetarian Delights and Beverages to the public from 9am-3pm.

Decided to pay a visit & was enticed by its colorful air-conditioned Dining Hall that welcomes one for lunch.

The theme is local delights at very reasonable price of $3 for its main dishes such as Wanton Noodles, Hor Fun, Yee Mee, Char Siew Noodles & rice, and Mushroom With Shredded Chicken slices Hor Fun.

It also has Dim Sum of any 3 pieces at $2. Among their Dim Sum, I would recommend their Char Siew Su (pastry with mock barbecue pork as filling) and Strongly recommend their home-made brewed Herbal Tea at $1. It was serving Chrysanthemum with Luo Han Guo on my day of visit and it is real good cup of tea that certainly worth more than the price. :-)
Overall, the environment is very welcoming with bright colours theme and would be a good place for relaxing and have a tea-break with friends.

It is located at Basement 1 of Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum which is located at Chinatown: 288 South Bridge Rd, off Sago street or opposite the famous Maxwell food centre, nearest MRT: Outram/Chinatown MRT. It is open from 9am-3pm.

Vesak@Orchard Vegetarian Food Fair

Some snapshots of food we had this afternoon.
Yes, my favourite Vegetarian Food Fair is back at Ngee Ann City this weekend again!
Still alot of prior year stall-holders but it seems this year there are more stalls and more selling at reasonable food court prices for quality food.

Vege burger for only $2 and water-mouthing Nonya pastries...
And striongly recommending the stall (can't remember if it is stall of kmspks) selling hand-made vegetarian Sambal/Belacan chilli that even has slices of mushroom and mock ikan bilis & the chilli tastes superb! Spicy with a lime taste, fantastically good to go with noodles & rice!!!!

The Almond noodles from Yes Natural and the Premium hand-made ice-cream are strongly recommended! The sushi stall is still there but sushi running out fast that I didn't manage to get my favourite fruit sushi :-(

The Dumplings, handmade by Venerable from Fo Yuan Lin, good vegetables filling in not too thick skin that goes well with the vinegar & chilli, and best taken hot on spot. (For those who missed it, they will be participating in another Vegetarian Food Fair on 29 May at Eunos MRT open field)

Don't wait, Hurry down to The Vegetarian Food Fair which is located just outside Ngee Ann City, Orchard Rd as part of Vesak@Orchard celebration from 30 Apr (Sat) 9am-9.30pm, 1 May (Sun) 9am-5pm.

Y.F. (Yuan Fen) Vegetarian Food

What's that? Green Tea Fried Rice and Watercess Pork Ribs Soup.
Can't really detect the Green Tea flavour which could had been covered by the strong Green Pea taste. It should had been called Green Pea Fried Rice instead, soft and fragrant with "mositure felt" fried rice. Nice! Especially for Green Pea lovers, must try!
Can't recall any mock pock ribs found but a small stalk of corn instead, nice bowl of soup which I would say "with substance".:-)

It's a small vegetarian shop on People's Park Centre 2nd level, just opposite the Chinatown Point, facing the overhead bridge linking the 2 building. Besides a tour agency...

Fo You Yuan Vegetarian Restaurant

Shifted to 30 Lavender Street S'pore 338815

Located along the stretch of shop houses just directly opposite City Square Residences, S recommended to try this vegetarian restaurant which she recently visited.

We tried their Longevity's Noodles - quite nice:-) Soft & Smooth.
Claypot Brinjal with Petai - the dish's sauce is usually saltish in other outlets but here they do it with a plum sauce, unique taste. The dish should be more sparingly cooked with Petai to justify the name of the dish.

Vietnamese Prawn roll - may not look as presentable but quite nice, it's actually mashed potato fried with centre edible sugarcane stick that you could chew on.

Lastly, we end the feast with their ice-cream dessert: Fruit Gelato : Peach Fantasy and Lemon Limet.
At the size of the clenched fist, most of the Fruit Gelato were beautifully moulded into their representing fruits, especially the peach alike gelato that we originally could not bring the heart to eat it.
The refreshing Lemon Limet (refreshing mild sourness after a heavy meal) is strongly recommended.:-)

Happy Vege Vege Garden

Located at Blk 332 of Ang Mo Kio Ave1, it is a vegetarian coffee shop by itself near the lift area. It sells a variety of Tze Char dishes and decided to have something hot, I ordered its "Yi Ping Guo" (literally translated as "1st Grade Hotpot"). Nice smooth La-mian like noodles with simple soup base.

What makes it 1st Grade? I think is that sprinkle of Chilli at the centre.
Nice Hong Kong style of Belacan chilli that is spicy that greatly enhanced the flavour of the soup.:-)

慈缘轩 (Ci Yan Xuan) Chinatown

Visited Ci Yan Xuan and noticed some new dishes that I had never tried before on its Today's Menu ~ Claypot Noodles & Steam Tonic Soup.
There are 5 types of Tonic soup to choose from at $6.80 each. I believe they will be of quality ingredients for the price. However, craving for soup noodles, I decided to try their Claypot noodles.

Though it came in a small pot than expected, it was quite filling. It was served with Yi-mee and usual vegetables as per normal Tze Char stall and tasted as authentic. I like their gravy that I ended up almost finishing the whole pot of gravy as well. :P Having Hot steaming noodles in an air-conditioned environment is really an enjoyable experience.:-) The boss said they will be adding more dishes such as Claypot Beancurd and Fried noodles in the evening menu too.

And on enquiry on when they are serving the Bibimbup, the boss revealed that they had just ordered vegetarian ingredients to prepare Bibimbup from their Korean supplier. They could only arrive in 1-2 weeks' time, so to call daily then to find out when we could savour that again. Sure looking forward to try it again!

NATURE'S HARVEST CAFE

Saw the signboard near the window while crossing the street, realised that YOGI House at #02 corner of Fu Lu Shou Building changed owners. However, its interior design remained pretty much the same and still an organic cafe.

We tried their Thai Tofu which had thoughtfully separated its hazelnuts powder at a side. The beancurd was of nice texture with a nice sauce and initially we thought the powder was minced of peanuts & cashew nuts but clarified that it was hazelnuts!:-)

Next Organic cafe's favourite: Salad Sushi. No aloud ingredients, just mainly fresh and crunchy turnip and red carrots sprinkled with mock floss. Remains my favourite.:-)

Their dry noodles came with an appetising look and taste, accompanied with nice winter-melon taste alike soup. Nice bowl of noodles with black fungus, seaweed, carrot slices, red pepper slices, mushrooms, bean sprouts and mini corn.
I saw another table ordered their soup noodles which looked appetising too.
Will keep that in mind for next visit!:-)

Located at Fu Lu Shou building #02-08, at a corner amidst the crystal shops.
